Hello and welcome back to 26 Words in Basic Strokes I’m Riëtte and I’m breaking down one word a day for 26 days into the basic calligraphy strokes. We’ll start with an upstroke that doesn’t quite reach the x-height.

Next we have an oval.

A descending stroke.

An upstroke.

A connector dot for your “r”.

An underturn stroke, this one starts where your connector dot ended and ends before you reach the x-height.

An oval.

An underturn stroke that ends before you reach the x-height.

A c-stroke.

An underturn stroke.

An oval.

A connector dot and underturn stroke combination.

An underturn stroke.

And an s-troke.

Let’s connect them.
