Hello and welcome back to 26 Words in Basic Strokes I’m Riëtte and I’m breaking down one word a day for 26 days into the basic calligraphy strokes. We’re keeping it simple, no flourishes, no bouncing, If you need an overview of the basic strokes I break them down in the Introduction video of this series. Today’s word is gracious. Grab your pens, pencils and paper and let’s get started.
We’ll start with an upstroke that doesn’t quite reach the x-height.

Next we have an oval.

A descending stroke.

An upstroke.

A connector dot for your “r”.

An underturn stroke, this one starts where your connector dot ended and ends before you reach the x-height.

An oval.

An underturn stroke that ends before you reach the x-height.

A c-stroke.

An underturn stroke.

An oval.

A connector dot and underturn stroke combination.

An underturn stroke.

And an s-troke.

Let’s connect them.
