26 WORDS IN BASIC STROKES – WORD 6 – FAITHFUL
Hello and welcome back to 26 Words in Basic Strokes. I’m Riëtte and I’m breaking down one word a day for 26 days into the basic
calligraphy strokes. We’re keeping it simple, no flourishes, no bouncing. If you need an overview of the basic strokes, I break them down in the introduction video of this series. Today’s word is faithful.
We start with an upstroke.

Next, we have an f-stroke. It’s a combination of an ascending and reverse descending stroke.

Then we have another upstroke that doesn’t quite reach the x-height.

Next, we have an oval.

An underturn stroke.

Another underturn stroke.

A t-stroke or an l-stroke.

An ascending stroke

A compound curve.

Another f-stroke, a combination of an ascending and reverse descending stroke.

Next we have another compound curve. Start your first stroke with a slight curve.

An underturn stroke.

And an l-stroke.

Now let’s connect these strokes.
An upstroke.

F-stroke.

Another upstroke.

Oval.

An underturn stroke.

An underturn stroke.

T-stroke.

Ascending stroke.

Compound curve.

F-stroke.

Compound curve.

Underturn stroke.

L or t-stroke.

And remember to cross the t and dot the i.

And there you go. That’s the word faithful.

I hope you enjoyed that. If you do practice, I would love to see. You can tag me on Instagram using #26wordsinbasicstrokes. I’ll be back tomorrow with another word.
