26 Words in Basic Strokes – Word 23 – wonderful

Hello and welcome back to 26 Words in Basic Strokes. I’m Riëtte and I’m breaking down one word a day for 26 days into the basic calligraphy strokes. We’re keeping it simple, no flourishes, no bouncing. If you need an overview of the basic strokes I break them down in the introduction video of this series. Today we are breaking down word number 23 – wonderful.

We’ll start with an upstroke.

Move on to an underturn stroke.

Another underturn stroke.

A connector dot.

An oval.

A connector dot that goes into an overturn stroke. So a combination of a connector dot and an overturn stroke.

A compound curve. The last stroke on this compound curve doesn’t quite reach the x-height.

An oval.

An l or t-stroke.

An e-stroke.

A connector dot.

An underturn stroke. This underturn stroke starts where your connector dot ended.

An f-stroke, which is a combination of an ascending and a reverse descending stroke.

An upstroke.

An underturn stroke.

An underturn stroke.

And an l-stoke.

Now let’s connect them.

Connector dot.

Oval.

Connector dot and overturn stroke combination.

Compound curve.

Oval.

T-stroke.

E-stroke.

Connector dot.

Underturn stroke.

F-stroke.
