Hello and welcome back to 26 Words in Basic Strokes. I’m Riëtte and today we are breaking down another word into basic strokes. We are
keeping it simple. No flourishing or bouncing, just the basic modern calligraphy strokes. Need a refresher? Go to the intro video of this series. I walk you through them one by one. Let’s get to breaking down today’s word. Today’s word is “beautiful”.
Start with an upstroke.

Next is an ascending stroke.

Reverse oval.

Upstroke – Stop before you reach the x-height.

E-stroke.

Oval.

Underturn stroke. That’s number one.

Underturn stroke. Number two.

Underturn stroke. Number three.

L or T stroke. It’s an ascending and underturn stroke combined.

Underturn stroke. Number four.

F-stroke. This is an ascending and reverse descending stroke combined.

Upstroke.

Underturn stroke, that’s number five.

Underturn stroke, number six.

L or T stroke.

Now let’s connect them.

Reverse oval.
