26 Words in Basic Strokes – Word 18 – remember

Hello and welcome back to 26 Words in Basic Strokes. I’m Riëtte and I’m breaking down one word a day for 26 days into the basic calligraphy strokes. We’re keeping it simple, no flourishes and no bouncing. If you need a refresh on what the basic strokes are I break them down in the introduction video of this series. Today we are doing word number 18, remember.

We’ll start with an upstroke.

Next is a connector dot.

Then we have an underturn stroke. It starts where the connector dot ended and the exit stroke finishes before you reach the x-height.

Next you have a combination of an e-stroke and an overturn stroke. So your e-stroke goes into your overturn stroke.

Another overturn stroke.

Next you have a compound curve. The exit stroke of this one also does not quite reach the x-height.

Another combination of an e-stroke that goes into an overturn stroke.

An overturn stroke.

And another compound curve where the exit stroke doesn’t quite reach the x-height.

An ascending stroke.

A reverse oval.

An upstroke, but this one doesn’t reach the x-height.

An e-stroke.

A connector dot.

And another underturn stroke. This one starts where the connector dot ended and it goes all the way up to the x-height.

Let’s connect the strokes.

Connector dot.

Underturn stroke.
